Some Kind of Movie – Ep. 8: The Spark That Will Light the Fire

Now that The Last Jedi has been out for a week and everyone’s had time to make their mind up, why not listen to us gush about it? Seeing as it has the most bizarre division between critics and the fanbase in Star Wars history, we try to unpack why Episode VIII is so controversial. But mostly we just scream over each other about how much we liked it and how sad it is that Carrie Fisher is gone. Fair warning though, there are spoilers ahead for those who dare listen.

Rokk Talk Ep. 12: Thank You For The Music

Thanksgiving is only a two days away, or as most Americans would correct you in saying, Black Friday is only three days away. But whatever your priorities this week, whether you’re noshin’ on some turkey legs or elbowing a portly dad in order to grab a VR fidget spinner, maybe you should take a break from the holiday madness and listen to your friends Colin and John on Rokk Talk. On this episode, the guys talk about the music they were thankful for in 2017, whether it was new discoveries, returning to old favorites, or moments in music that have us looking optimistically towards a future.

Rokk Talk Ep. 11: Man in the Mirror

“Your butt is mine
Gonna tell you right
Just show your face
In broad daylight”

100 poets working for 100 years could not come up with something that good. That’s because there’s was only one Michael Jackson. In honor of the 30th anniversary of the Bad album, Colin and John reflect on the myth, the magic and the music of the legendary man in the mirror. You’ve been struck by a smooth podcast. That’s gotta be enough writing, right?

P.S. This was recorded back in late August/early September. We just wanted you to know that so this podcast can take you back to a more simple time.

Mildly Pleased Summercast

What we did on our summer vacation: watch lots of Criterion movies, see a few quality blockbusters, and rock out to some sweet summer jams. Oh, and not post very frequently. But fortunately here’s a special end-of-summer podcast to let you know what we’ve been doing this summer pop culture-wise as we head into the cold hard crispness of Fall.

Rokk Talk Ep. 09: Live Forever

Maybe I don’t really wanna know, how your garden grows cos I just want to listen to Rokk Talk. Some pretty interesting things have been going on across the pond, lately. So let’s roll back to a simpler time… the 90s! Listen as John and Colin reassess the biggest Britpop bands of the time. Who knows what they will uncover? “Just because you sell lots of records it doesn’t mean to say you’re any good. Look at Phil Collins.” Bless you, Noel Gallagher.
