Haven’t done one of these in a long time and maybe I’ll never get a chance again, so here we go: Here’s everything I know about the songs in Rock Band 4, which is out in a couple weeks.
The most important, amazing thing that Harmonix has done is respect our commitment to the earlier games. You may have heard that DLC songs and on-disc tracks from the first three games will mostly all come over to the corresponding new consoles (so Xbox 360 goes to Xbox One and PS3 to PS4) and that most old instruments will be made to work on the modern machines too. Even better, songs from the pre-Rock Band 3 era will be remastered to allow vocal harmonies. All of that is amazing and almost certainly makes the game worth picking up just to preserve the value of everything else people like me already bought.
But there are a bunch of new songs in this game too. Check out the complete Rock Band 4 soundtrack after the jump.

- Van Morrison – Brown Eyed Girl
- White Denim – At Night In Dreams
That’s an interesting list, and if you didn’t read all of it, I’ll just be sure to mention that “Panama” by Van Halen is in it. Yeah, finally, right? Overall it’s a somewhat eclectic mix and maybe a little shorter than the number included in the previous games but who cares? It’s enough to keep things interesting in a party situation, even without counting the thousands of songs you and I already own.
But wait, there’s more. Depending on when, where, and what version of the game you buy, you could stand to gain a few extra songs. Now, it’s important to remember they’ll all be for sale as DLC later, so relax. These are just a few songs that fanatics like myself can get early and for free. If you don’t want to pre-order, that’s cool. You can get them later for not free. Here’s how it works…
If you pre-order from Amazon, you get:
- Alabama Shakes “Don’t Wanna Fight”

- Of Mice & Men – “Would You Still Be There”
- Oh Honey – “Sugar, You”
- Pantera – “Cowboys From Hell (Live from Monsters In Moscow Festival)”
- Seasick Steve – “Summertime Boy”
If you pre-order on Xbox, you get:
- All That Remains – “What If I Was Nothing”
- BABYMETAL – “Gimme Chocolate!!”
- Earth, Wind & Fire – “September”
- Interpol – “All The Rage Back Home”
- Jefferson Starship – “Jane”
- Linkin Park ft. Daron Malakian – “Rebellion”

- My Morning Jacket – “One Big Holiday”
- Pierce The Veil ft. Kellin Quinn – “King For A Day”
- “Weird Al” Yankovic – “My Own Eyes”
- The Wild Feathers – “Backwoods Company”
And if you pre-order from GameStop or pre-order the $250 Band in a Box or, you know, maybe if you just pre-order the game anywhere, I’m not quite sure, you’ll get these songs that you might already have:
- Anarchy Club “Blood Doll”
- Anarchy Club “Get Clean”

- Tijuana Sweetheart “No Mercy”
- Tijuana Sweetheart “Seven”
- Tijuana Sweetheart “Trash Candy”
- Tribe “Outside”
Needless to say, I pre-ordered the Xbox digital version of the game. “One Big Holiday” was at the top of my list of song requests for Rock Band 4, and even better we get “September,” a Weird Al song, and a shot at attempting this madness? I’m in.
Anyway, I’m pretty excited about a new Rock Band game even though I feel like most people aren’t and I’m not sure how we could even play it in our apartment without immediately getting evicted. It feels like the good old days. At least it will until this thing hits on October 6, then who knows what will happen next? Might find myself living on the streets, clicking away on my plastic guitar for a warm meal.
