Pitching Tents 04: Fatherhood

In this, the month of dads and grads, we are happy to bring back Pitching Tents. Inspired by Father’s Day, which was a week ago if you haven’t been calendar watching lately, we decided to come up with the best movies about fatherhood that haven’t been made. And that’s a tricky one, given that there seem to be only a few types of dad movies: the ones where he has to get his save his family, the ones where he has to reconnect with his family, and the ones where his family have to reconnect with him. Which of these types did we tend to favor? Listen and find out!

Pitching Tents 03: Sports

It’s the long-awaited return of Pitching Tents, just in time for the big game! This week on the show we come up with our best ideas for a movie about sports. Not just football, that would have been too constraining. I mean, if we had done football, would we have really done another show for baseball? Basketball? Hockey? Probably not, right? We’ve only managed to do like three of these so far. No reason to be so limiting this early on. Anyway, go Seattle gridiron football team who legally I’m not sure I can write about or mention online without paying somebody something!

Pitching Tents 02: Halloween Special

I certainly hope everyone is having a spooktacular Halloween! I know we were, because up until the last minute, I had no idea what to pitch. It’s so hard coming up with a new idea for a horror movie, there are just so many of them! Basically anyone you can possibly think of has tried to kill people in a movie at this point. Even yourself, as seen in movies where the killer has split personalities (which I won’t spoil here) or even more abstractly, like in Mirrors (I think). Ooh, what if the monsters were the heroes and the villagers were the villains? Congratulations, me, I’ve just come up with Bride of Frankenstein.

Pitching Tents 01: Isolation

Here’s something a bit different. You know how sometimes they make movies? Do you ever wonder how executives and screenwriters come up with the ideas for those movies? Well, here’s our best approximation of what it’s like. It’s a new show for a growing network of podcasts for the smallest audience possible, Pitching Tents. It’s all about us trying to pitch (to each other) movies that would be the big tentpole films of the future. Yes, despite the title this has nothing to do with camping or boners.
